Income-Leisure Tradeoff

The Income- Leisure Tradeoff is simply the tradeoff that all workers have to make between Leisure that generates utility and Income that allows the individual to purchase goods and services. Here is an interesting article on the downside of affluence and the effect wealth and income have on the leisure habits of individuals.

According to research by Daniel Kahneman, the Nobel Prize-winning behavioral economist, quoted in an article in the Washington Post, "being wealthy is often a powerful predictor that people spend less time doing pleasurable things and more time doing compulsory things and feeling stressed."
